Wakegreen Road, Moseley
Project Scope: We were approached by the architect to partner on this project. The client's period home had been extended unsympathetically a number of times in the past and was keen to demolish the history of poor additions and create a much more sympathetic and useable space.
Project Detail: Phil Lester Construction began by demolishing the assortment of additions and worked with both the architect and the client to develop the plans on site for a a result that would offer the best use of the available space and display certain features that the client held in high regard more deservedly.
A 6 metre extension was constructed to include two sets of large bi-fold doors and large open plan kitchen diner. The previously wasted courtyard corridor space was incorporated into the house with the addition of a glass roof allowing access to pantry, downstairs shower room and utility room with zoned underfloor heating system.
As part of the new heating system Phil Lester Construction also upgraded the combi boiler to allow for the additional requirements of the underfloor heating system.
The shower room was designed and fitted by Phil Lester Construction and included space saving basin and toilet as well as reclaimed tiles. The kitchen was also designed by Phil in close collaboration with the client to include maximisation of storage and usability. Phil was also delighted to carry out some bespoke carpentry for the client. Taking three existing dining tables of the clients, along with reclaimed wooden flooring and some biscuit jointing, Phil created an impressive 18 seater banqueting table that suited the space perfectly.
The rear of the property was also re-worked by Phil and the team to include the installation of new composite decking along with pagoda with verandah style roof to create an outdoor seating area that can be enjoyed in all weathers.
